In this episode of The Perspective Pod, we discuss how natural resources and conflict are related. Why is it that countries with a lot of natural resources are falling behind to many other countries with less natural resources? And how is it that developed countries, often occurring in the global North, are ruling over the resources extracted in developing countries, often situated in the global South? These questions are discussed with our guest Barbara Magalhaes Teixeira, PhD candidate and lecturer at Lund University. In part 2 of our podcast regarding the resource conflicts occurring between developing and developed countries, we discuss potential solutions to the problems of developing countries not being able to develop further, as long as more developed countries are ruling over the resources occurring in their lands. We discuss how it can be beneficial to look at alternatives to the globally accepted capitalised structure, how the feminist perspective and talking to marginalised groups on a local level is necessary to help these countries and the people living there out.
